| LEFT: Buddy Holly, Larry Welborn and Bob Montgomery the Buddy and Bob trio played country from 1953 up until they opened for Elvis Presley in 1955, after which time they played "Western and Bop." CENTER: Holly soon formed the Crickets and played and helped define Rock 'n' Roll. RIGHT: Holly was an innovator both in the studio and onstage, and laid much groundwork for future rockers. In just two short years he created many Rock 'n' Roll standards until his tragic death on February 3, 1959 "the day the music died." | ||
