THE CHART
The backbone of The Online Roots of Rock is The Chart – a graphic timeline representing the 3 streams of music in America:
white roots music
black roots music
mainstream "popular" music of middle America that was imposed, to a large extent, from the top down by the commercial songwriters and publishers of Tin Pan Alley
This is elaborated upon in the Introduction To The Chart.
In addition to offering this unique overview, The Chart will also provide button links to the music genres and styles.

THE GENRE (or STYLE)
A genre page provides a brief abstract of the genre, a listing of its most noteworthy artists, and links to relevant websites pertaining to the genre.
Also included on this page are recommended publications and recordings and, when available, other resources relevant to the genre.
Click on any artist listed on a genre page and you'll be taken to the page of that specific artist.
